The Poecilotheria regalis, commonly known as the Indian Ornamental or simply "P. regalis. The Indian Ornamental showcases an array of vibrant colors, predominantly featuring a rich metallic blue sheen on its carapace, legs, and opisthosoma (abdomen). This iridescent blue hue is beautifully contrasted by intricate orange and yellow markings, creating a mesmerizing display. The contrast continues with its long, agile legs, adorned with dark bands and strikingly delicate golden hairs.
As an arboreal species, P. regalis is adapted for a life spent climbing trees and other vertical surfaces. It possesses strong, curved legs designed for gripping and a lightweight body structure that aids in agility and precision. This enables it to skillfully navigate its environment with remarkable speed and grace.
In terms of temperament, the Indian Ornamental is known to exhibit defensive behavior, characterized by a distinctive threat pose when provoked. It may lift its front legs, exposing its fangs and adopting a defensive stance, which adds to its allure for experienced tarantula enthusiasts seeking a challenge.
