Discoid roaches (Blaberus discoidalis) are native to Mexico, Central, and South America. Wild populations of this insect are found in Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico (Vieques Island), Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, and Florida.
Discoids are an excellent food source for many animals. Birds, fish, chickens, spiders, reptiles, even other insects eat discoids for their high protein and moisture content.
Discoids do not climb smooth surfaces making them an ideal feeder that is both high in protein and moisture.
